Success Story
Get Into Maritime Participant
Tayla is a proud Wiradjuri and Yuin woman. Thanks to your support, Tayla has new career skills and is now studying at university.
After completing high school, she decided to defer further studies as she was unsure whether she was on the right path. Tayla was told about ‘Get Into Maritime’ by a family member and was inspired to join the programme.
Tayla was a shining star during the eight-week course. “I really liked how practical it all was – like tying knots, that’s one of the essentials in working on a boat, you have to tie off when you moor.”
She gained greater confidence and vital new skills and inspired others with her curiosity and commitment to learning. “The King’s Trust made me feel like I could do anything I wanted to.”
“The King’s Trust Australia has given me a new opportunity I would have never consideredbefore. I gained newexperiences and will be workingon the sea!”
Tayla graduated with a Certificate I in Maritime Operations. Since then, she secured an internship with Heron Marine Construction and is now at university, considering a career in politics.
