Ian Smith is Founder and Joint Managing Parter of Bespoke Approach, a strategic communications consultancy. He is a Senior Adviser to Washington-based advisory firm Albright Stonebridge Group. He was previously a journalist and government staffer.

He is a Director of Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia, helping settle and integrate refugees into Australian communities, and chairs Barefoot to Boots, an organisation supporting Kakuma refugee camp and its host community in north-western Kenya.

Ian serves on the Council of the University of South Australia and received the honorary award of Fellow of the University in September 2025.

He is Deputy Chair of The King’s Trust Australia also the United Kingdom Honorary Consul in South Australia.
In recognition of his significant contributions to Australia – UK relations and broader service to South Australia, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2018.

Juliet has been a journalist for more than 35 years, working between Australia and the UK for magazines, newspapers, TV and radio as a writer, editor and commentator. She is also a non-fiction author. Her latest work is Quentin Bryce: The Authorised Biography, the life story of Australia’s first female Governor-General and former Sex Discrimination Commissioner. Previous books include The Writing on the Wall, an investigation into what happened to her father’s family in the Holocaust, Rising Heart, the memoir of Aminata Conteh-Biger, a refugee from Sierra Leone, and The Royals in Australia, a behind the scenes investigation into 150 years of royal visits.

Dominic Richards LVO OAM was raised in Australia and England and educated at the University of Cambridge and The Prince of Wales’s Institute of Architecture. He is the Founder of Our Place, a placemaking and regeneration company creating sustainable, walkable communities that celebrate local identity and traditional crafts.

Dominic has been involved with His Majesty The King’s charitable work for more than three decades, including as former Vice Chair and Director of The Prince’s Foundation in the UK. He now serves as Chair of The King’s Foundation Australia and has been a Trustee of The King’s Australian charities (now The King’s Trust Australia) since inception. Across these roles, he has championed youth opportunity, traditional skills, and environmental education, helping to champion the vision for a more sustainable and connected future in Australia.

Karim migrated to Australia in the early 80s from East Africa.

While working on an assignment with Industrial Promotion Services (IPS Global) focused on projects across Central Asia and running his own consulting business, he continues to volunteer his time and knowledge on various boards in Australia and internationally.

Gail is an Esperance Nyungar person living in Esperance, WA. She is also a descendant of the Mirning People (“Whale people”). Her country stretches along the southern coast to the South Australian border.

Gail is currently the Chairperson of the Esperance Tjaltjraak Native Title Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (ETNTAC), a position she has held since the Corporation’s establishment in 2014. In her current role as Chairperson of ETNTAC, she has worked with the Board to lead a number of native title economic development projects, including in relation to the development of freehold lands received by the Esperance Nyungar People as part of the ILUA entered into with the State Government.

She is a passionate advocate of the need for native title holders to pursue economic development opportunities and to leverage native title outcomes to improve the social and economic well-being of the community. “We want our children to be proud Aboriginal Australians, learning our culture and developing into future leaders,” said Gail.

Gail also works with various companies across a number of industries to assist their board members and employees to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with First Nations people. She strongly believes that cultural competency is the basis upon which Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians may engage positively in a spirit of mutual respect and reconciliation.

Dr. Gulzar Malik serves as the Associate Dean of International Partnerships and an Associate Professor in Nursing at La Trobe University, Melbourne. Holding a PhD in Nursing from Monash University, she is also a distinguished alumna of the Aga Khan University in Pakistan, to which she has dedicated years of voluntary service. Dr. Malik’s contributions to nursing encompass numerous research projects, conference presentations, and scholarly publications.

Her commitment to community service extends globally, evidenced by her role as Vice President of the International Honor Society of Nursing in the USA. Additionally, Dr. Malik is the first female President of the Shia Imami Ismaili Council for Australia and New Zealand and the Director of the Aga Khan Foundation Australia, building on her previous impactful tenure as Education Chairperson.
