Hannah’s journey into natural skincare and remedies began with a deeply personal challenge.
“We had a rocky ride as first-time parents. Our son was unwell from the get-go. He had head-to-toe eczema and spent eight months in full-body bandages – often with even his hands covered.”
That harrowing experience became the catalyst for a complete lifestyle overhaul and the seed for what would grow into Wellness Botanica, Hannah’s home-based wellness brand.
“In the midst of our health crisis, I started looking into gut health and learning about the role of skin in detoxification. Skin is a detox organ, so it didn’t make sense for us to use the petroleum-based products we were offered. I did a lot of research, and we moved to tallow balm.”
And joyfully – alongside healing through food – the natural products supported a transformation to completely healed skin.
“I started looking into other products and learning about the chemicals, irritants and toxins in the environment. We started switching to all-natural alternatives in our home and saw so many positive changes.”
Talking with other families, Hannah soon realised she wasn’t alone in her concerns and health challenges. After multiple requests to purchase her homemade products, she made the leap to set up a business.
“My husband is in the Defence Force, and while he was overseas for two months of training I decided it was as good a time as any to get a business started. Luckily, I like to be busy as I was pregnant, parenting and working at the time. It meant a lot of late nights and a steep learning curve – but I loved the process.”
And all that hard work paid off. With the support of her family, Hannah has been able to grow her business, which now offers a premium range of all-natural products – everything from deodorants and skincare to remedy balms and herbal teas – all crafted from her home in the Adelaide Hills.
“Lots of research goes into every product. Each one is all-natural and needs to deliver a clear benefit to the customer.”
Growing Through the Trust’s Enterprise Accelerator
As a Defence partner, Hannah joined The King’s Trust Enterprise Accelerate programme to strengthen her business foundations. She never imagined she’d walk away as a 2025 Enterprise Accelerate Award winner.
“I loved the flexibility of the program. I could tune in from the car, while shopping, even picking up the kids from my Mum’s place. The speakers were great, offering real-world insights tailored to where we are in business.”
