Congratulations to The King’s Trust Australia Head of Programmes, Jigna Desai (pictured for left), for recently receiving a Jane Hansen Teach for Australia Alumni Award! 🎉

It's inspiring to see how her journey has evolved. From being part of the Teach for Australia Leadership Development Programme in 2020 to now leading impactful programmes at The King’s Trust Australia, Jigna’s commitment to advancing equity with and for young people shines through.

Teach for Australia gave Jigna the opportunity to work in a diverse school setting and teach Year 11 and 12 students.  “This invaluable experience helped me gain a deeper understanding of the support young people from marginalised backgrounds need to have agency over their futures and the challenges and systemic barriers they face.”

By applying these insights into The King's Trust Australia’s Employment, Education, and Enterprise programmes, she's helping to equip young people with essential skills for life.

“Thinking about how we prepare our young people for this new world of work that's constantly evolving is really important.”

Jigna is a key player in leading The King’s Trust Australia’s programmes and has used her Teach for Australia experience to inform the important work she does today.

“The world is rapidly changing, and it’s important to give young people access to the skills, mindsets and agency to draw upon and to make their own choices.”
