We sincerely thank His Majesty The King for sharing an inspiring speech and conversation on an online event with Australian veterans who have taken our entrepreneurship programmes at Prince’s Trust Australia.

Australian Army veteran and Enterprise alumni Matt said during the event,

“I was deployed on two peacekeeping missions to East Timor, of which I’m extremely proud. It’s a daunting experience when you decide to leave…. Prince’s Trust Australia saved my life.”

Of the event with His Majesty, Matt said,

“It was one of the most surreal, humbling and proudest moments of my life to date. It will remain one of the most unforgettable moments I have ever experienced.”

His Majesty, told the 60 people on the zoom event,

“At the conclusion of your service, whether a veteran or a family member, the return to civilian life is by no means easy. I can well appreciate that. And news stories often focus on the very real hardships faced following this transition. However, do not underestimate the invaluable experiences gained through your military careers which will undoubtedly have provided you with a solid platform of skills, supported by strong values, discipline and dedication to duty. You are so often resilient, talented and really resourceful. And if I may say so, the traits that mark you out as a member or spouse of the armed forces - integrity, courage, teamwork and the ability to work calmly under intense pressure - are also qualities that will serve you well as business owners.”
