As a paediatric nurse with nearly 15 years of experience, a master’s degree, and two young boys, Penny Blunden knows plenty about caring for sick kids. However, over the years, she noticed that many parents lacked the knowledge and skills needed to manage common childhood illnesses.
Recognising a genuine need in the community and the limited availability of accessible, high-quality information online, Penny founded Sick Happens. Her mission: to provide practical, easy-to-follow online courses for parents and carers.
Five years on, Penny continues to grow her company, attracting over 175,000 Instagram followers, launching a new podcast, and developing a first-of-its-kind online course for early childhood educators.
A 2024 Beyond Service Awards finalist, Penny will join us for a Founder’s Session on Thursday, 20 February. She’ll share the story of how she founded Sick Happens and the strategies she’s used to scale her business. This is one session you won’t want to miss!
