The Prince’s Trust Australia have been helping the community rebuild the hall after it was devastated by the Black Summer Bushfires.

Prince’s Trust Australia staff Michelle Endacott, Justin Hewitt, Alexander Dowthwaite and Keitlyn Kukk recently joined the community for a “Meet the Builder Day” to celebrate the appointment of Adelaide-based builder Aube Projects, who will head the construction phase of the rebuild.

The event was a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, connect with the building team and celebrate this major milestone.

Stokes Bay Community Hall Committee Chair, Madelyn Kelly said that

“We are really looking forward to being able to gather again. After what we’ve all been through, we have missed being together, and that’s the most important part of being a community; having that togetherness.

“Already there is talk of what events we are looking forward to and new ideas to create more socialising! Our wholehearted thanks to Princes Trust Australia and all those associated with it for your ongoing support, what a journey but now we will see all of the hard work come to fruition.”

Executive Director and Director Sustainable Communities, Justin Hewitt, said that -

“It’s been a wonderful project; we’re very proud to be supporting the Stokes Bay community with the rebuild of this important community asset.

“Throughout this project we have been blessed to have the support of many different groups of people and organisations. We have had the support of the Federal Government, the South Australian State Government, Kangaroo Island Council and the support of Prince’s Trust Australia’s own patrons, among many others.

“We’re very proud to get to this major milestone and see the hall finally in construction phase.”

The Prince's Trust Australia has partnered with the Stokes Bay Community Hall Committee to assist with the rebuild of this important community centre after it was severely damaged during the devastating Black Summer bushfires.

Building commenced in October, with completion expected in September 2023. Stay tuned for more updates as construction progresses!
