Dean Foley is an Air Force veteran, marketing expert, and entrepreneur with a passion for championing First Nations entrepreneurship both in Australia and on the global stage.
Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, who served in WWII and saw frontline combat as one of the Rats of Tobruk, Dean joined the Royal Australian Air Force while studying marketing at QUT. He served for five years, from 2008 to 2014.
While in the Air Force, Dean was gifted a book on entrepreneurship. Inspired by the stories of successful entrepreneurs making a real difference in the world, he decided to leave the Air Force to learn what it takes to run and grow businesses.
In 2017, Dean founded Barayamal (meaning Black Swan), a community development enterprise dedicated to championing First Nations entrepreneurship as a powerful tool to dismantle inequality and decolonise Western systems and institutions.
Dean holds a Master of Business (Marketing) from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration.
We are thrilled to have Dean join us as a Community Coach for the Enterprise Accelerator!
